Although there are no official numbers tracking teen expenditure in Singapore,a few newspaper reports this year have pointed to examples of excessive spending by teens.Some,liked Gregory,are opting to dine at fancier eateries,instead of the school canteen.A western meal at Miss Clarity Cafe or Aston's-popular teen dining haunts-can cost up to $30,versus $1.50 for a bowl of wanton mee.Others empty pockets for romantic gifts liked a 17-year-old reportedly spent $700 on 99 roses for his girlfriend in a Sunday Times article.A little more reasonably,prehaps,an IN survey last month found most teens spent up to $30 on dates with their love interests.Experts generally agreed that teens tend to splurge because most don't earn their extravagant lifestyle.

I totally agreed with the experts although i am a teenager myself but i can understand the fact that we really do spend alot on unneccesary items and activities.Despite the reasonable prices of foods in the school canteen,teenagers would rather spend more on a meal at Pizzahut,Kfc,Mcdonald or even Sasake Sushi.That is because we normally just go with the flow and it is also due to the reason that we do not really feel the pain of using up all those money which are earned by our parents in exchange for dozens of 'OT'.I think that teens should learn to appreciate what they have and need instead of craving for what they do not have but want.Therefore,we should give a thought to our parents and not waste their hard-earned money in a blink of an eye.Teens got to be more independent and should refrain from asking money from parents each time they lay an eye on something they want.
