Many tech-savvy gamblers takes their habbit online,not realising that it is illegal.Placing bets with opertators not from Betting Act and Common Gaming Houses Act is considered an offence and would be fined and jailed for up to six months.The two legal operators do not provide online gambling facilities,however the rate of online betting has risen.While Singapore credit cards are not accepted on online betting websites,people set up online accounts which they used to gamble online.Mr Suresh Anantha said that people go online to stay annoymous and people also find it convenient as you can do it anywhere any time without calling the bookie.However,people failed have to understand that even though you may win occasionaly,you will still lose money over the long term and that's how gambling works.

People go online as it is more convenient as you do not have to queue up for a long time just to bet on the soccer team.Betting online is faster and definately more convenient.However,people did not realise that betting online is illegal and people who are underage may also be involed in such illegal acts.If betting online becomes legal,more people will start gambling since it is so convenient which is bad because they might just get too addicted and spend all their money on gambling.This will in turn cause economic problems as people will turn jobless,bankrupt etc.And the sucidal rate will also increase.This affects Singapore's population growth and cause aging population as more young people will gameble compared to the older ones.
